Puppet shows for Pre-schools and Kindergartens!

Created and performed by Meredyth Hunt

Puppet shows have been a cherished form of storytelling for over 3,000 years. Children of all ages become entranced by the movements and simple stories delivered by the puppeteer.

In early childhood, the puppets are truly magical and “alive”! All of the puppets are handmade from natural fibers like wool, cotton and silk, which make the puppets very soft and huggable.

The stories the puppets tell revolve around nature and the seasons. One week the story might be about a little mouse making a new home for himself in an old tree stump and the next week might be about the bulbs of spring finally coming to life and blooming!

Each story is 20-30 minutes long and afterward we play games based on the subject of the story for that day. For example, if the story focused on a little blue Hermit crab looking for a bigger blue shell to live in, we might play with blue ribbons running over and under them. Crabs walk sideways, so we would practice walking like a crab and then lay down to watch the “waves” (a big piece of blue fabric) roll over us.
